This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and the choices you have when using Nostara.

Scope & eligibility

This Privacy Policy applies to the Nostara mobile application and related services (the “Service”). Nostara is intended for users age 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17.

If you believe a minor under 17 has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

What Nostara does

Rediscover the charm of your cherished memories with Nostara—the ultimate tool for organizing and celebrating your nostalgic treasures. Whether it's a vintage photo, a handwritten note, or a special keepsake, Nostara transforms your mementos into beautifully curated stories.

Some features may be described as “AI-powered” or “smart” (for example, generating captions, summaries, story layouts, tags, or enhancements from images or text).

Information we collect

We collect information in three ways: (a) you provide it, (b) it is collected automatically, and (c) it comes from permissions you choose to grant.

Information you provide
  • Account: name, username, email address.
  • Customer support: messages you send to support (and any attachments you include).
  • User Content: photos, images, notes, text, titles, descriptions, and other materials you choose to upload or create.
Collected automatically
  • Device and technical data (device model, OS/app version, language/region, network type, security-related identifiers).
  • Usage data (feature usage, in-app events, settings; aggregated or pseudonymous where feasible).
  • Diagnostics (crash logs, performance data, error reports).
Location (only if you allow it)
  • Precise location (GPS-level) or approximate location, depending on the permission you grant and device settings.

How we use information

  • Provide and maintain the Service (including account management).
  • Personalize your experience (preferences and organization).
  • Improve and develop the Service (bug fixes and performance).
  • Security and fraud prevention.
  • Customer support and service-related communications.
  • Legal compliance and protection of rights.

We do not sell your personal information.

AI / smart features (processing of uploaded images or text)

If you choose to use AI or smart generation features, you may upload images and/or text to our servers to generate outputs (such as stories, captions, tags, summaries, or layouts).

Our commitments
  • Processing location: inputs are processed on Nostara Team servers (not sent to third-party AI providers).
  • No sharing: we do not share your uploaded images/text or prompts with any third party for AI processing.
  • Deletion: inputs uploaded for AI/smart processing are deleted immediately after processing is completed (or as soon as technically feasible).
  • No training/marketing: inputs are not retained for training, marketing, or advertising.
  • Your control: you decide whether to upload content and whether to generate outputs.

If you choose to save generated outputs in the app, those saved outputs are stored according to your settings and our retention practices below.

Photos, face data & biometrics

Nostara may request access to your photos or camera only to let you select or capture images you choose to store or process.

  • We do not perform facial recognition.
  • We do not create biometric identifiers or biometric templates.
  • We do not use photos/face data for training models, marketing, or advertising.
  • For one-time generation features, uploaded images are processed once and then deleted from processing systems.

By default, the Service is designed to store your content locally on your device. If optional cloud features are available and enabled, we will explain what is synced in the app at the time you enable them.

Location

If you grant location permission, we may collect precise or approximate location depending on your settings. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings.

Cookies & similar technologies

If the Service includes web-based components (web login, embedded web views, or a companion website), we may use cookies and similar technologies (including web beacons/pixels) for login, preferences, and security.

How we share

We share information only in limited circumstances and to the minimum extent necessary:

  • With your consent or at your direction.
  • With service providers acting on our instructions (infrastructure, security, customer support tools) who must protect it.
  • For legal and safety reasons (compliance and protection of rights).
  • In connection with a business transfer (subject to safeguards).

For AI/smart processing specifically, we do not disclose your uploaded images/text or prompts to third-party AI providers.

International transfers (including SCCs)

We may process and store information in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers, such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or equivalent mechanisms.

Security

  • Encryption in transit and, where appropriate, encryption at rest.
  • Access controls and least-privilege practices.
  • Regular audits and monitoring.
  • Backups and disaster recovery procedures.

No system is 100% secure.

Retention

We retain information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.

  • Account data: for the duration of your account.
  • After account deletion: deleted or anonymized within 30 days (unless legally required otherwise).
  • Usage/analytics: up to 12 months (typically aggregated or pseudonymous).
  • Support communications: up to 6 months after resolution (or longer if needed for ongoing issues or legal compliance).

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict/ object, withdraw consent, and request portability.

Third-party links

The Service may display content or links to third-party websites or services. If you interact with them, their privacy practices apply.

Changes to this policy
